| Várzea Grande Várzea Grande is the entrance gate for the visit to Mato Grosso by air, it is right next to the capital city Cuiabá. The union of these two important cities forms a megalopolis, becoming a great center of business, leisure and events because of the great economical potential of the state, for Mato Grosso is considered one of the fastest growing states in Brazil. Várzea Grande has beautiful scenery on the banks of the Cuiabá River and it is also famous for the flavor and quality of the fish that is served in the riverside communities with emphasis on Bom Sucesso and Passagem da Conceição. The district maintains secular traditions alive in the dances and through the making of hammocks, candies and liquors.
